Innovative XR Formats
Projects for XR applications with high-quality content, creative and, especially with regard to the user experience, innovative projects for XR applications can be supported with a grant. The term Extended Realities (XR) covers immersive content for Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) as well as immersive sound projects. The projects can also be interactive.
XR projects can be supported in three different phases:
- Development from concept to completion of the first prototype
- Production
- Presentation at selected conferences and festivals
Development from concept to completion of the first
For the development of the concept to the prototype, a grant of up to 80% of the project development costs can be awarded, up to a maximum of 30,000 euros per project. If production funding is also granted for the project at a later date, the grant will be offset against this. The applicant must make an appropriate contribution of his/her own.
Production
The production of XR applications can be supported with a grant of up to 50% of the eligible production costs, up to a maximum of 100,000 euros per project. The applicant must make an appropriate contribution of his/her, of which the applicant’s own funds should amount to at least 2.5%.
Presentation at selected conferences and festivals
For the distribution of XR projects produced in Bavaria, successful artists and other creative people from Bavaria can apply for funding to reduce the costs of presenting their projects at certain international and national festivals and conferences (see information sheet) by up to 80%. The funding may be applied for informally. The prerequisite is an invitation by the festival or conference.
Bavaria Effect
At least 100 % of the amount of support for development and production must be used in Bavaria. In the case of a positive funding recommendation, the Bavarian effect stated by the producer in the application becomes part of the funding contract.
Application Process
The application for development or production funding must be accompanied by a pitch deck, a calculation, a financing plan, proof of necessary rights and other documents resulting from the application form. You will find the PDF forms below.
Submission for these grants is only possible during the respective submission period. This usually lasts for two weeks and ends on its last day of the submission period at 6 pm. Since this is a cut-off deadline, even slightly late applications cannot be included on the agenda of the Allocation Committee meeting. It is therefore strongly recommended that applications be submitted to the FFF Bayern at the latest on the day before the submission deadline.
Submissions for funding of project presentations at festivals and conferences are possible on an ongoing basis.
Before submitting an application, applicants should always contact the responsible funding consultant by telephone, in person or digitally.
Detailed information on submission for all grants can be found in the guidelines and information sheets.
Pitch
Completed applications received by the deadline with the prospect of a positive funding decision can be presented to the Allocation Committee. The pitch also includes a round of questions to the applicants by the Allocation Committee following the presentation.
The Allocation Committee decides on the funding recommendations on the basis of the documents submitted and the pitch.
