FFF Bayern Supports Three International Projects with €2.9 Million

The next chapter in the Riddick saga, starring Vin Diesel, will be produced in Bavaria as a German-British co-production. The FFF selection committee for the International Feature Films and Series support program met yesterday and decided to support three projects with a total of €2.9 million.

Riddick 4: Furya

The next chapter in the Riddick saga, featuring Vin Diesel in the lead role, will be produced in Bavaria: Riddick returns to his home planet Furya, only to find it occupied by the brutal Amadak and facing a new threat from the Necromongers. To save his people and newly discovered family, he must confront his inner demons and engage in a battle against overpowering enemies.

David Twohy, who directed the previous installments of the film series, also wrote the screenplay. The creative team includes cinematographer Stefan Ciupek (Guns Akimbo, Rumours) and production designer Nigel Phelps (Batman, Alien, Pearl Harbor, Troy, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean).

FFF Bayern is supporting the production with €2 million. This is an international co-production involving the Munich-based company Supernix on the German side. The British co-production partner is Electric Shadow Company/28 Limited. LEONINE Studios will handle distribution in Germany, while Rocket Science has the worldwide distribution rights.

The majority of the shooting for Riddick 4: Furya will take place in Bavaria, with some filming also occurring in Spain, the guest country of the FFF Business Lunch 2024 in Cannes, where representatives of film commissions and service production companies, as well as members of Supernix, were present.

Dougie Dolittle

The Munich-based company Caligari Film- & Fernsehproduktion, in collaboration with Studio 100 International, is realizing an international co-production with Spain and Ireland. Inspired by the worldwide classic The Story of Doctor Dolittle, the animated film Dougie Dolittle will tell a reinterpreted story for the big screen in today's context: When unruly zoo animals and a ruthless pet food manufacturer threaten the city, a teenager who suddenly gains the ability to talk to animals must overcome his fears to discover his true destiny.

The international co-production partners include the Spanish 2D and 3D animation company 3 Doubles Producciones and Telegael, based in Ireland. The worldwide distribution will be handled by Studio 100 International, which is also on board as a German co-producer. FFF Bayern is supporting the production with €750,000.

Regina Welker (Latte Igel and the Magical Water Stone) will direct, with art directors Luis Guggenberger (Captain Marvel, Bumblebee, Red Notice) and Thomas von Kummant (Hexe Lilli, Ant-Man) as part of the creative team. The screenplay is by Mark Slater (Princess Lillifee, Knight Rust), with script consultant Philip LaZebnik (The Prince of Egypt, Pocahontas, Mulan) providing support. The film music will be composed by Ute Engelhardt (Vicky the Viking: The Magic Sword, Maya the Bee 1-3).

The Witcher (Season 4)

The company Scanline VFX, located in Geiselgasteig, is involved in the digital production of the 4th season of the Netflix series The Witcher. The fantasy drama series is based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. The new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri as they are separated and traverse the war-torn continent and its many demons. The directors are Sergio Mimica-Gezzan, Tricia Brock, Alex Garcia Lopez, and Jeremy Webb, with scripts written by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Tania Lotia, Rae Benjamin, Troy Dangerfield, Matthew D'Ambrosio, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Clare Higgins, and Mike Ostrowski. FFF Bayern is supporting the project in the area of International Feature Films and Series/Line Producer/Digital Imaging with €115,000.
