Production Feature Films
The production of a feature-length film can be supported by up to 30% of the eligible production costs. The maximum amount is 3 million euros. The grant is awarded as a conditionally repayable promotional loan. Producers with a registered office, branch office or place of business in Germany are eligible to apply. International co-productions require a German producer in order to apply for funding from FFF.
Bavaria Effect
At least 150% of the requested subsidy is to be spent in Bavaria. The Bavaria effect and the shooting days specified by the producer in the application must at least be achieved and become part of the loan agreement in the case of a funding recommendation.
Application
The application must be accompanied by a valid contract with a German distributor or a deal memo. In addition, the script, a calculation, a financing plan, proof of acquisition of the film rights as well as a crew and cast list must be enclosed.
Applications for production funding for feature films may be submitted for all four FFF funding meetings in one year exclusively via the online application portal. It is strongly recommended that you contact the responsible funding officer by telephone or in person before submitting an application. Detailed information on submission can be found in the information sheet on Theatrical Feature Films Funding ("Merkblatt Kinofilmförderung").
Processing of Funding Recommendations
All documents for further funding processing in the case of a funding recommendation (e.g. contracts, revenue statements) must also be submitted via the online application portal.
Bavarian Banking Fund
Following a recommendation by the FFF Bayern, films whose exploitation can be expected to be particularly successful can be co-financed with funds from the Bavarian Banking Fund ("Bayerischer BankenFonds").
