The lead role in France is played by Léa Seydoux, part of the filming took place in the alpine region of Karwendel. FFF Bayern supported the production and distribution of the satire.
The feature film tells of the story of a TV journalist and war reporter who, through a chain of tragic events, falls into a downward spiral. She tries to save herself by throwing herself into her work with all her passion.
France (WT: Par un demi-clair matin) was produced by Dorothe Beinemeier (Red Balloon Film) together with Jean Bréhat of 3B Productions in France, Belgium’s Scope Pictures and Tea Time Films from Italy, in co-production with Bayerischer Rundfunk and in collaboration with ARTE. Other roles include performances by Blanche Gardin, Benjamin Biolay and Juliane Köhler.
The Film Commission Bayern and the contact person from its network were also on location for the filming. Filming took place at Elmau Castle and in Mittenwald at Lake Ferchen, among other places. The alpine region Karwendel was nominated as Filming Location of the Year in 2019.
FFF Bayern supported the production of the project with 200,000 euros. The Regensburg-based MFA+Filmdistribution is planning to release the feature film in the fall. FFF supported the distribution with 30,000 euros. Additional funding came from Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, Eurimages and the other co-production countries involved.
