Cinema Funding
FFF Bayern’s support for Bavarian cinemas contributes to maintenance of attractive cinemas and the availability of high-quality programs in cinemas throughout Bavaria. Areas of support include grants for the construction, modernization and optimization of cinemas; the awarding of programming awards; and the funding of structural improvement measures.
Investments in Modernization and Improvement of Cinemas
Within the framework of investment funding, commercial cinema operators in Bavaria may apply for grants for the modernization and improvement, as well as the construction of new cinemas. Funding may be granted for film-specific technical equipment and facilities as well as construction measures up to total of 3 million euros. Funding is granted as a subsidy of up to 30%, but no more than 100,000 euros (in the case of the establishment of new cinemas no more than 250,000 euros) of the eligible expenditures. Applications must be submitted prior to the initial stage of the project. Applications may be submitted at any time, must include all necessary documentation, and must be submitted in duplicate paper form.

Cinema Program Awards
Every year, FFF Bayern presents awards to Bavarian cinemas for their outstanding annual film programs. Submissions are judged on the basis of the respective annual film programs offered from 1 January until 31 December. High-quality film programming as well as the proportion of German films and children’s films made available are among the criteria. Annual programs for the year 2024 will be considered for the next submission.
The submission period 2025 is to be announced.
