Toni Erdmann nominated for BAFTA Award

The nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2017 have been announced. The FFF-funded drama Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade is nominated in the category Film Not in the English Language.

Toni Erdmann is a tenderly funny character study that's both genuinely moving and impressively ambitious. Winfried doesn’t see much of his working daughter Ines. The suddenly student-less music teacher decides to surprise her with a visit after the death of his old dog. It’s an awkward move because serious career woman Ines is working on an important project as a corporate strategist in Bucharest.

Toni Erdmann celebrated its world-premiere at the festival in Cannes and was awarded with numerous prices, including five European Film Awards.

The EE British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 12 February at the Royal Albert Hall, London. The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Fry and will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD. The ceremony is also broadcast in all major territories around the world.
